The STRETCH team is located on the campus of the Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC). Prospective STRETCH students are encouraged to start their college career on this campus. See the MCTC web site (www.minneapolis.edu) for specific information regarding MCTC programs, course description and other relevant information.

Direct Case management and support are crucial to a student who is willing to explore the college environment while addressing their individual concerns at the same time. Student schedules are individualized and designed to support them in accessing and developing skills in independence, social encounters, and community participation, work related experiences and knowledge.

Staff guides the planning process by providing opportunities for students to increase their self determination skills through self advocacy, communication, organization, resource awareness, time management as well as college and community involvement.

Staff provides on going assistance through weekly meetings. Students are guided to find the resources they need. Connections and relationships are built with the on campus Disability Services Office, academic advising, learning center and other various offices on campus.

In addition, each student meets with a counselor from the Department of Rehabilitation Services. Emphasis is in individualized employment service as part of each student's transition into adulthood. Eligibility and support are determined by the counselor and student needs.
